Upholstery courses for beginners to advanced

Manorhouse offers a range of practical, face-to-face upholstery courses. We don't offer online learning as we believe that to fully understand the skills involved in upholstery, you have to roll up your sleeves and "get stuck in", and to do so under the supervision of an experienced upholstery tutor.

Join us in July on our new Business course - a 12 day upholstery course designed to help you set up your own upholstery business. The course includes 6 upholstery projects plus all the essential knowledge needed to begin operating from your home or small workshop. For full details follow this link. This is an ideal "upholstery for beginners" course but equally suitable for someone with experience who is looking to take the next step.

Our next "Make a Footstool in a day" course is June 5th - follow this link for details and how to book. The course runs on Saturdays and at £135 is a fantastic introduction to upholstery. The day is very "hands on" and will lead to a completed footstool with optional shallow buttoning in 6 hours; ready to take home and use.

Based in Almondbury just outside Huddersfield our weekly schedule of morning, afternoon and evening upholstery courses and soft furnishing courses allow you to develop your skills in our bright and spacious workshop and in a friendly environment. Students learn modern and traditional upholstery techniques at all levels so there is something for everyone, from upholstery beginners, to those with more experience.

Finding Manorhouse is quite easy – driving down Thorpe Lane from Almondbury village we are the first turn on the right approximately 100 yards down Thorpe Lane. The sign is for Thorpe Grange Gardens and immediately on the left is a driveway with a high stone wall on the left and a low stone wall with iron railings on the right. This short driveway leads to two gates. Drive through the entrance and Manorhouse is the first single storey building on the left. Our workshop has been adapted for Covid restrictions with 8 individual workstations and toolsets available for individual student use in class.
